How to connect to a remote computer in an SBS network using a mac
Steps to create a connection
1. Download "Microsoft Remote Desktop" from the app store (free) - the icon is the first one in the image below.
2. Open the downloaded application
3. Click New
4. Enter a descriptive name in "Connection name"
5. Enter the computer name of the computer you're trying to connect to in "PC name"
6. Enter your office username and password in the "Credentials" area. The company domain is entered before the username (see image below for example)
7. If you're using VPN to connect then skip to step 14
8. Click on the "Gateway" drop down list and select "Add gateway". Then click the plus sign in the bottom left of the new window.
9. Enter a useful description in "Gateway name" - i.e. company name
10. Enter the "Server" name for your office - this is the mid section of you Remote Web Workplace URL. So for https://remote.cilix.co.uk/remote you would just enter remote.cilix.co.uk
11. Enter your username and password as you did in the previous screen using the same format. You should now have something similar to the image below:
12. Close the Gateway window
13. Select the newly added Gateway from the drop down list
14. Close the "Edit Remote Desktops" window
The connection has now been created, select the new entry in the list and click on "Start"
